Suburbs 53. - 2011

Is a loose wall installation. Each piece is pinned to the wall with a tiny black nail so it can move freely when a breeze comes by.

Suburbs 53 • is an ever-changing wall installation of pieces of zinc, found objects, wood, paint and pins.

“Looking from above, seeing the shapes of a city from the air. Neighbourhoods that grow and others that fade away. This installation will never be the same again on another wall. Just like a city where people move and exchanging their places, forming the city according to their needs, leaving their marks behind.  Standing in the city, feeling the sparkling life of millions then zooming out, looking from a distance feels like the volume is turned off. The ongoing movement is still visible but instead of being a part of it you can see the aesthetics of the city as one big carpet full with colours and forms slightly billowing.”
